“KAWS: WHAT PARTY” AT THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM: NEW YORK
February 26, 2021 - September 25, 2021
Brooklyn-based artist KAWS is known for merging themes of 21st-century consumption, culture, and commerce. KAWS work identifies and plays on the duality inside these themes, paring commodity with priceless art, aesthetic beauty with transcendent meaning, and evoking those emotions that are at the heart of being a human within a challenging modern society.
The exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum brings together a diverse range of the artist’s works, from rare graffiti drawings and early altered advertisements to his popular COMPANION figures. Virtual and augmented reality exhibits allow viewers to interact and experience KAWS work on an unprecedented level.
